Cooking Measurement Converter
Cooking converters make it easier to adapt recipes between different measurement systems. You can convert cups, grams, tablespoons, teaspoons, milliliters, fluid ounces and pounds depending on the ingredient and recipe.
How Do Cooking Converters Work?
Volume measurements such as cups and tablespoons are not always equivalent to a fixed weight. Ingredients have different densities, which means that one cup of flour does not weigh the same as one cup of sugar or butter. Ingredient-specific conversion factors can therefore provide a more useful estimate.
Grams to Cups
The grams-to-cups conversion depends on the ingredient. Flour, sugar, butter, water and other ingredients have different densities. Select the appropriate ingredient in the calculator above for an approximate conversion.
ml to Grams
Milliliters measure volume while grams measure mass. The conversion between them depends on density. Water has a density close to 1 gram per milliliter, while oil, flour, honey and other ingredients have different densities.
Cooking Conversion Tips
For baking, using a kitchen scale and measuring ingredients by weight can often provide more consistent results. When using cups and spoons, fill the measurement according to the recipe's instructions and avoid assuming that all ingredients have the same weight.
